Bishop Cabinets offers 16 standard stains. As trends change, so do our stain offerings. Ever wonder what it takes to create a new stain? The video below discusses these R&D steps required to create a new stain:
- Trend Identification – This if often a function of multiple requests from customers.
- Stain Tone – Various stains are poured on wood to achieve the closest match to the desired tone in the rawest state.
- Application Configuration – Test various methods for applying the stain to achieve consistent results with various spray gun settings, air pressures, etc.
- Initial Testing – Stain various doors at different times of the day to dial in the process.
- Species Testing – Apply the stain to the various species. Often some species are a good match for the stain while others are not.
- Door Profile Testing – Stain is applied to different door styles to see how it takes and looks with various door styles.
- Approval – Stain is approved for specific wood species and door styles.
Upon on approval, samples are made and presented to customers. Justin Martin, Bishop’s Director of Operations, walks through each step in this video.
