Now, here is what is new with Bishop’s door offerings.
Aligning Door Styles Across Cabinet Constructions
Bishop manufacturers primarily three types on cabinetry:
- Framed (Full Overlay and Half Overlay. Our focus in this post is Full Overlay.)
- Framed Inset (We refer to as “Inset” in this post.)
- Frameless
You can learn more about framed and frameless cabinetry in our past posts.
Historically, we have not always launched new door styles simultaneously across all cabinet construction types. This at times means the customer cannot get the door style in the cabinetry type that they want. That changed with our new door styles we launched in July.
New Door Styles
Our dealers were instrumental in the three new on-trend door styles we launched in July. All are available in full overlay, inset and frameless.

White Plains
Shaker with 1/2″ Step

Spring Hill
Shaker with Slant

Ocean City
Shaker with 1/4″ Cove
Many door styles are the same for frameless and full overlay cabinets. We are just starting to align the inset doors with full overlay and frameless. Our current inset doors are: White Plains, Ocean City, Long Beach, New Ashford, Old Town, Sun Valley, St. Cloud, Garden Home, Grand Isle, Spring Hill.
We are working on a plan to align New Ashford with North Andover. They are the same door style, and North Andover is available in full overlay and frameless. In the future, New Ashford will likely be renamed North Andover.

New Ashford
Inset

North Andover
Full Overlay, Frameless
In all cases except Sun Valley, the stiles and rails and slightly thinner in inset, as demonstrated in the chart below. Most folks would not notice the difference.
Stiles & Rails | |||
Door Style | Inset | Framed Full Overlay | Frameless |
White Plains | 2 1/2″ | 2 3/4″ | 2 3/4″ |
Ocean City | 2 1/2″ | 2 7/8″ | 2 7/8″ |
Spring Hill | 2 1/4″ | 2 1/2″ | 2 1/2″ |
Sun Valley | 1″ | 1″ | 1″ |
Sun Valley was added to inset in July. This is the fourth door available across all three cabinet styles. It is available in inset in all species except for white oak.
Our hope is that aligning door names and profiles across cabinet construction makes it easier for our dealers when designing with Bishop cabinets.

5-Piece MDF Doors
Bishop has been offering hybrid Maple/MDF doors for sometime now. Due to popular demand, we now have 100% 5-piece MDF doors in certain door styles.
MDF doors offer several advantages:
- A more consistent paint finish
- Less noticeable joints
- MDF doors rarely warp
Styles available in all 5-piece MDF: Baton Rouge, Downey Lane, Juneau, Kirkwood, Lake Juneau, New Ashford, New London, North Andover, Ocean City, Park City, Sun Valley (Punta Cana is available in MDF slab)
Styles available as a Hybrid Maple Frame/MDF Panel: Avon Park, Bar Harbor, Cape Cod, Castle Glen (1/2 OL), Coral Gables, East Windsor, Fifth Avenue, Fort Myers, Garden Home, Grand Island, Klamath Falls, Lafayette Square, Long Beach, Old Town, Pleasant Brook, Spring Hill, St. Cloud, Walden Pond, Warm Springs, White Plains
Discontinued Door Styles
Naturally over time some door styles fall out of favor. In the last 18 months, Bishop has discontinued several doors due to declining sales:
- Cottage Grove
- Napa Valley
- Ventura Way
- Mount Shasta
